Staying Out For The Summer In Bristol
The south-west city of Bristol has plenty to offer during the summer months.

Cheltenham Music Festival
Not far from Bristol, Cheltenham will play host to their annual music festival neatly between the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics in London. Featuring a range of classical concerts, the cultural festival will take place in events all around the town. Music events will be the main focus of the programme; however, there will also be several art exhibitions at the Gardens Gallery.
Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling
A strange one for those who are new to the UK! The annual Cheese Rolling contest of Cooper’s Hill will take place this year on Monday 4th June. Five downhill cheese races will take place, with prizes for each winner. The name of the game is to reach the bottom of the steep hill before a rolling 8lb wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. Because the hill is so steep, it’s almost impossible to remain on foot the whole way down, making the race an entertaining spectacle for all!
Westonbirt Arboretum
Westonbirt is especially beautiful in the summer months, with the many trees and plants out in full bloom. Visit any time for a great day out or come along to one of the many music events taking place in the gorgeous grounds. TreeFest will also be taking place this year, with lots of music events and workshops planned over the last weekend in August.
Cotswold Beer Festival
The 36th Cotswold Beer Festival will feature over 80 real ales, cider, perry and soft drinks for visitors. Live music and food will also be on offer in the village of Winchcombe, a short journey away from Bristol.
